Charlie Sheen hasn’t been out of the spotlight. Sure, he had his share of controversies in the past. Even of late, his recent antic that only the brilliance of Charlie Sheen could make possible had critics babble endlessly on all angles.
But, through it all, Sheen is still best remembered for being one of the most versatile actors of all time. If one fan were to be asked who Charlie Sheen was, a response would almost always be along the lines of “…that guy from Two and a Half Men” or “…the lead actor for Navy Seals.” The number of different answers will serve to underline just how versatile Charlie is.

Since the ’80s, Charlie Sheen has become a household name. While he started his acting career, or showed interest in it, much earlier in his life, he appeared as the juvenile delinquent in a police station in the movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, a 1986 comedy starred in by Matthew Broderick. But his biggest break came when he was cast in the 1986 Oliver Stone hit movie Platoon. Sheen took on the role of a new recruit and served as the film’s narrator. The film was a huge success, and reflected the divided views of the Americans on the war on Vietnam.

Not just some actor

Later on, Sheen showed his prowess as a versatile actor when he teamed up once more with director Oliver Stone for one of the decade’s most critically acclaimed movies, Wall Street. Sheen starred as a budding stock trader eager to get ahead even through extra-legal means. (Sheen will be appearing in a cameo for Wall Street 2 due in 2010.)
Other favorite Charlie Sheen movies that fans can’t get enough of include the hit comedy films Hot Shots and Hot Shots 2, Major League, Money Talks and Scary Movie 3 and 4.

Over the years, Charlie Sheen’s versatility has captured the hearts of millions. With luck, he will stay on as one of the favorites even for today’s generation as more projects roll out for him.
